Manual Handling Policy
With regular changes in legislation and conflicting messages regarding the manual handling of clients in the health and social care setting, we will ensure your manual handling policy and procedures are legally compliant and fit for purpose.
“Amanda (trainer) was fab – walked the tricky line of being funny and engaging without taking it too far. The day went quickly which is a real skill. I’d now like to do a more advanced course and paediatric first aid. 10/10″
EP
“I thought Amanda was brilliant and kept my attention well. Very knowledgeable and fun. Answered all questions that were asked. 10/10”
SD
“The course was really good. Not too fast paced, everyone had access to their own equipment and help was available if needed. Things were explained very well. 10/10”

How do we support health and social care providers with their manual handling policy?
One of our registered nurses would seek to gain an understanding of your business, how it operates and importantly who you provide services for.
Where an existing policy is in place we will carry out an initial review and comment taking into account current evidence based practice, Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements and what is generally considered to be best practice within the industry. A review of this nature will also review and comment on other relevant documentation such as:
- Client risk assessments
- Moving and handling plans
- Safe systems of work
- Staff training and equipment
What should you expect from Acorn Health & Safety?
The employer will receive guidance on, or an updated manual handling policy that is fit for purpose and meets the needs of the setting, its staff team and clients.
In addition a range of documents for carrying out risk assessments and handling plans will also be provided.
We will assign you a dedicated and competent healthcare professional, a registered nurse specialising in this area. They will gain an understanding of your needs and be on hand to provide any help, advice or comment you need.
Any documentation produced will either be uploaded to our cloud based storage system provided electronically, or as a hard copy in the required format. Following any piece of consultancy work we are available by phone or on e-mail, so you can contact us easily, if you need our assistance or further advice.
