Fire Safety Courses
Acorn takes the time to gain an understanding of your fire safety requirements and practices in your organisation to ensure we provide meaningful and relevant fire safety training. This can be supported by practical use of our environmentally friendly propane gas training rig to simulate a variety of different fire types.
“A fantastic course. By far the best presented first aid at work course re-qualification I have attended. The Acorn trainer was very engaging and approachable, made to feel confident about asking questions”
Our Portfolio of Fire Safety Courses Includes:

- Fire Awareness - FIRE01
- Fire Extinguisher Training - FIRE02
- Fire Marshal and Fire Warden (with optional Live Fire) - FIRE03 / 04
- Online Fire Marshal and Fire Warden - FIRE03L
Why Do Our Customers Choose Us?
We offer the chance to use fire extinguishers and witness demonstrations of the use of fire blankets on a live fire. This is not a mandatory aspect of the training but gives delegates first-hand experience in putting out live fires.
Acorn Health & Safety is a leading provider of health and safety training and consultancy in the South West. Our trainers and consultants come from a wide variety of professional backgrounds and are not only appropriately qualified but also have considerable hands-on practical experience, which is reflected in our grounded, pragmatic approach.
Customers come from an equally diverse range of organisations and businesses but choose Acorn because we’ll keep you on the right side of the law while recognising that health and safety needs to complement your day-to-day business activities.
How Do We Approach Fire Safety Training?
We provide basic fire safety courses that will provide the necessary theoretical knowledge and confidence in current practices and procedures, helping you to remain legally compliant and protect your business, employees, and customers. Employees and stakeholders benefit from the prevention and management of fire safety incidents, which protects your business both financially and legally.
What Should You Expect From Acorn Health & Safety?
We’ll provide delegates with a variety of printed course materials, including workbooks and handouts, and on completion of learning, delegates will receive an appropriate certificate.
Post course, our team of consultants and trainers are available to answer any questions you might have. You’ll also receive an automatic reminder prior to course expiry.
Our ‘fire safety’ portfolio of courses is just one of a group of over 60 courses we offer. Acorn Health & Safety provides training and consultancy in first aid, fire safety, food safety, manual handling, healthcare training and health and safety.
Our ‘in-house’ course programmes are the most cost-effective option if you have a number of staff requiring training and, in many cases, can be adapted to include reference to local policy, practice and documentation. These courses can be delivered either at any suitable venue, or you can hire our purpose-built training centre, located in Warmley, Bristol, whichever is best suited to your needs.
We also run a rolling programme of ‘open courses’ which are particularly suited for individuals or organisations that only have a few delegates or those looking to release small groups of staff at a time.
What Does Fire Safety Training Involve?
Fire Safety Training goes far beyond just ticking a compliance box. A thorough fire safety training course helps ensure your team understands how fire spreads, what to do in the event of a fire, and how to prevent one in the first place. From exploring the Fire Triangle to understanding how fire detection systems, fire alarm systems, and firefighting equipment operate, our training courses provide the knowledge and confidence to respond appropriately and responsibly.
Why Fire Safety Matters in the Workplace
The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 requires employers to take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of fire and ensure safe working conditions. Effective fire safety training for employees helps meet these obligations by embedding a culture of fire prevention, awareness, and action. Delegates learn how fire detection and warning systems work, the role of fire alarm testing, and the importance of accessible and properly maintained fire doors and escape routes.
Risk Assessments and Legal Requirements
Every employer must carry out a fire risk assessment as part of their overall fire risk management system. Our fire risk assessment training courses support 'responsible persons' in identifying hazards, evaluating risks, and ensuring suitable fire safety arrangements are in place. These include regular risk assessments, clear signage, working fire alarm and detection systems, appropriate fire precautions, and an actionable fire emergency plan.
Tailored Fire Training Courses for Your Team
We offer fire training courses designed for all levels of responsibility, from fire awareness training for general staff to accredited fire marshal training for those in a supervisory role. Each fire safety training course can be tailored to reflect your specific environment, whether that involves warehouse layouts, office blocks, or healthcare facilities. All fire safety training courses delivered by Acorn meet the requirements set out in current fire safety regulations and can be customised to complement your internal policies and procedures.
Fire Safety Management You Can Trust
Fire safety is not a one-time event but an ongoing responsibility. A robust fire risk management system includes scheduled fire alarm testing, maintenance of fire detection systems, staff refreshers, and continual updates to your fire emergency plan. By combining strong fire prevention measures with practical training and professional oversight, our courses help you build a sustainable and legally compliant fire safety provision.
Recognised Qualifications and Continuous Support
Our trainers hold relevant fire safety professional qualifications and have years of hands-on experience. They understand what best practice looks like across industries and how to implement effective fire safety management that integrates seamlessly into daily operations. In addition to training, we offer guidance on fire detection, the use of firefighting equipment, and ongoing review of fire safety arrangements.
