We were recently the very proud sponsors of the Great Western Air Ambulances Charity (GWAAC) 4th annual event ‘Heli Laughs’ which took place at Bristol Old Vic on the 29th August 2024. The event has become a hugely popular night in the GWAAC calendar, as well as generating valuable revenue for the charity, 100 per cent of which will go towards operational costs for one of the UK’s busiest air ambulances.

GWAAC is our local air ambulance covering Bristol, Gloucester, North Somerset and surrounding areas with the air ambulance and critical care cars. This years event raised more than £17,000 taking the total raised by Heli Laughs to over £52,000!. That’s a phenomenal figure.

Our Acorn staff team attended and had an incredible time and we can’t wait to do it again next year! To ensure you don’t miss out, join the mailing list for exclusive Heli Laughs news

Next week is Air Ambulance week. Anyone, anywhere in the UK can become a patient at any time. Their message this year “Today’s Supporter, Tomorrow’s Lifesaver” reminds us that by becoming a supporter today, you can help save lives tomorrow. Air Ambulance Week is the only week in the year dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the vital lifesaving work of air ambulance charities who collectively make over 45,000 lifesaving missions each year across the UK and is funded almost entirely by donations.

Without direct government support, the charity relies on lottery funding, legacies, grants, corporate partnerships, retail income and individual donations to keep ‘Helimed65’, their famous green and blue helicopter airborne.

In the first six months of 2024, between Helimed 65 and their fleet of critical care cars GWAAC have undertaken 1,159 missions – surpassing their total in the first half of 2023 by nearly 200.
