Fire kills. Fact. UK Fire and Rescue services attended 620,758 incidents in the year ending September 2022, a 16% increase compared with the previous year (537,423). Of these incidents, there were 185,437 fires which was a 28% increase compared with the previous year (145,313). These increases can be attributed to the 44% increase in secondary fires and 63% increase in outdoor primary fires following the hot, dry summer in 2022. Also contributing were large increases in the non-fire incident categories collaborating incidents and road traffic collisions, as well as the fire false alarm catergory due to apparatus (source national statistics)
Each year, the costs as a consequence of fire, including property damage, human casualties and lost business, are estimated at over £9 billion. The costs of a serious fire can be high.
The highest degree of management control is needed to ensure that all fire protection arrangements are effective, and staff actions in an emergency are clearly understood and implemented.

By following some sensible precautions, such as checking fairy lights for obvious signs of damage and keeping decorations and cards away from fires and other heat sources such as light fittings. everyone can switch on safely and sparkle! And don’t forget to buy batteries for toys that need them – that way you won’t be tempted to remove batteries from smoke alarms.

Our courses can include the practical use of fire extinguishers and the demonstration of the use of Fire Extinguishers and Fire blankets in a ‘live fire’ situation through our environmentally friendly propane gas training rig to simulate a variety of different fire types.
Courses will provide knowledge of legal requirements, risk assessments and hazards associated with fire, together with the causes and chemistry of fire and evacuation requirements.
